People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Hillington Industrial Estate, Paisley.

This position is ideal for applicants who have previously worked as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category C+E Driver, CE Driver, Articulated Lorry Driver or Night Trunking Driver.

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

 • Operating HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) vehicles safely and efficiently
 • Completing deliveries and collections throughout the UK
 • Loading and unloading vehicles in line with company procedures
 • Using appropriate loading and unloading equipment
 • Ensuring all loads are safely secured before and during transportation
 • Maintaining the security and integrity of loads throughout each journey
 • Following relevant transport legislation and company procedures
 • Complying with vehicle safety requirements and road traffic regulations
 • Operating digital tachographs correctly
 • Adhering to drivers’ hours regulations and the Working Time Directive
 • Maintaining a professional and courteous approach with customers, colleagues and management

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 • A valid UK Category C+E Driving Licence
 • A valid Driver CPC / Driver Qualification Card (DQC)
 • A valid Digital Tachograph Card
 • A minimum of two years holding a Category C+E licence
 • A minimum age of 25 due to stated insurance requirements
 • Good knowledge of UK roads and major routes
 • Good understanding of the Highway Code and vehicle speed limits
 • Knowledge of drivers’ hours, tachograph regulations and the Working Time Directive
 • Experience manually loading, unloading and securing freight
 • A reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach to work

Driving Licence Requirements

The following are not accepted under the stated driving criteria:

 • Drink or drug-related driving endorsements within the past 10 years
 • Driving disqualifications within the past five years
 • Licence endorsement codes beginning with IN, CD, DD, DR or BA

Desirable Experience

 • A minimum of two years’ commercial driving experience
 • Previous experience with night trunking operations
 • Experience completing UK-wide deliveries and collections

Training Provided

 • Required Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) training following satisfactory background checks
 • Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your employment
